Wave Photonics and Latitude Design Systems (LDS) announce the integration of PIC Studio into Wave Photonics’ PDK (Process Design Kit) Management Platform. PIC Studio is a comprehensive tool for PIC design and simulation that supports the entire design cycle from schematic to layout, including design rule checking (DRC), circuit simulation, and electro-optic simulation for more accurate and optimised designs. Now, all the foundry PDKs and packaging ADKs (Assembly Design Kits) hosted on the platform can be downloaded and used seamlessly with PIC Studio.
Wave Photonics’ PDK Management Platform streamlines PDK distribution by eliminating the repetitive work of mapping PDKs to multiple EDA tools. Foundries can upload a PDK once and distribute it across all major design tools, ensuring out-of-the-box compatibility for designers. This allows foundry teams to focus on higher-value tasks while giving designers seamless access to the PDKs they need.
Key features of the PDK Management Platform include:

This integration announcement coincides with the Innovate UK Global Business Innovation Programme (GBIP) at the Semicon Taiwan event. Supported by Innovate UK and the British Office in Taipei, the programme brings together leading UK companies in the semiconductor and photonics sectors to facilitate international collaboration. Wave Photonics is part of the UK Pavilion at the event, and can be found at booth I3022.
Dr. Terence Chen, Co-founder and CTO at Latitude Design Systems, said, “The collaboration with Wave Photonics represents a significant step forward in simplifying the photonic design workflow. By integrating their PDK Management Platform with Latitude's PIC Studio, we are providing designers with a truly seamless experience, from PDK access to final verification. This allows our mutual customers to accelerate their design cycles and focus on innovation rather than on tool and library management.”
James Lee, Wave Photonics CEO, said, “Integrating PIC Studio into our PDK Management Platform marks a major milestone in our mission to simplify and accelerate photonic chip design. Latitude Design Systems has built an intuitive and powerful environment in PIC Studio, and we’re excited to make our PDKs and ADKs instantly usable within it. This collaboration enables our foundry users to offer their customers reduced friction in the development process, and ultimately helps bring photonic innovations to market more efficiently.”
